Can anyone get Hypnotized?
The answer is both yes and no, there are some other factors at play such as trust.
The state of hypnosis occurs naturally right before falling asleep and right before waking up. If the person possesses a brain that makes the required brain waves, then they have the chance to be hypnotized.
The question is…will everyone benefit? You can’t lump the 8 billion people that reside on this planet into one group. There will always be exceptions.
One thing that will prevent someone from being hypnotized is lack of trust and convincing themselves that they can’t be hypnotized.
A lot of hypnotists don’t love working with people that claim they can’t be hypnotized because they’re right! If you believe you can’t be hypnotized then you will not allow yourself to be hypnotized because you won’t be able to relax.
For hypnotherapists, that can be a fruitless task. I have worked with a few that lacked trust and turned them into repeat clients simply by building trust, explaining what hypnosis actually is, and letting them know they have complete control, because this is to benefit them. A serious hypnotherapist will have no interest in making people cluck like a chicken or bark like a dog…
There are some that have hyper busy minds or are hyper analytical - and those are more of a challenge to work with and may not always experience success. We have tools in the toolbox to circumvent those attributes.
Also, there are some mental disorders that hypnosis may aggravate the condition and should not be worked with, like psychosis or personality disorders. Hypnosis should not be attempted with them.
