Spiritual Safety

Someone recently told me that hypnosis “invites demons.”

I had to pause for a moment to realize that this might actually be a belief some hold – so I decided to look deeper into it. So, let’s clear this up:

Mental health professionals and medical organizations (like the American Psychological Association) view hypnosis as a legitimate therapeutic tool.

Hypnosis is a natural state of the brain achieves with focused attention—often feeling somewhere between relaxed awareness and the edge of sleep. Hypnotherapy looks to extend the length of that state to update ‘the software’ by reframing thought patterns and behaviors.

You can accept suggestions given by the hypnotherapist or reject them if you choose. No external force is being invited in and there is no o loss of control.

If someone’s demons are metaphorical, hypnosis can used to support pos

Interestingly, many religious experiences—such as meditation, prayer, chanting, singing, repetitive ritual, or deep contemplation—can also involve similar pathways to exact the change the person desires.

If you were to look at it in an esoteric spiritual ‘demons are real actual things’ sense (there is no published scientific evidence on this – however absence of proof is not proof of absence) . Hypnotic positive change may increase your vibrational frequency and do the polar opposite of inviting demons, which are considered lower frequency entities. In spiritual or wellness contexts, "increasing your frequency" usually means shifting from negative, dense emotions (like fear or stress) to elevated emotions (like joy, love, or peace). Your environment would then be less enticing to them – like if you put on bug spray you would be less tasty to mosquitoes. Hypnosis has been used to rid people of ‘negative entity attachments’ – I’ll leave that up to you to decide if demons are real or just repressed aspects of the personality coming to the surface…

It’s interesting how myths form around things people don’t yet understand that may have come from TV, stage acts (there is a science behind that) and urban legends—but hypnosis is really just using an ordinary state of the brain to support positive change.

So whether your demons are literal or metaphorical, a professional hypnotherapist is not going to bring them in!
